Tyler Christopher Payne was a boy who disappeared from Tucson, Arizona.
In March 2009, his stepfather was found guilty of two counts of murder, three counts of child abuse, and two counts of concealing or abandoning a body. Tyler's body has never been found.
Case[]
Tyler was two months old when his mother, Jamie Hallam, married Christopher Payne. Tyler and his sister, Ariana, were involved in a lengthy custody battle between their parents, of which Jamie had full custody. Christopher was known to be $19,000 behind on child support payments and had abducted both children in 2006. Tyler was allowed to take them both for an extended weekend but never returned them.
Ariana's body was later found in a 25-gallon tub in an unpaid U-Store-It locker in Tucson. Responding police later stated that they didn't do a thorough enough search of the locker, and it was possible that Tyler's body may have been taken away along with the rest of the belongings in the locker to be thrown away. It's believed that both of the children died of negligent homicide, namely starvation. However, signs of abuse on Ariana's body were found upon an autopsy. Tyler's body is now believed to be in the Los Reales Landfill in southeastern Tucson.
