Tangena Hussain was a toddler who vanished in 2008.

Case[]

Tangena was last seen at approximately 9:00 p.m. on October 2, 2008 at the Marathon Gas Station in Detroit, Michigan. She was there with her mother's live in boyfriend, Jamrul Hussain, who had stopped to buy gas, juice and gum. He left Tangena in his red four door 1997 Geo Prism when he went into the store and found she was gone when he returned less than five minutes later. Strangely, Jamrul claims that the cars doors had been locked when Tangena disappeared.

Rather than calling the police or looking for Tangena himself, Jamrul whent to pick up Tangena's mother, Nilufa Begum, from her job at the nearby Northland mall. When Nilufa inquired as to her daughter's whereabouts Jamrul said he would take her to where Tangena was.

The couple then returned to the Marathon Gas Station and asked employees if they had CCTV which would have covered the area Jamrul's car was parked in at the time of Tangena's disappearance. They did not, although they did have CCTV footage which showed Jamrul in the store. Tangena was reported missing by Nilufa and Jamrul at 9:30 p.m. that night.

After Tangena's disappearance was made public a 15 year old girl came forward saying Jamrul and kidnapped her at gunpoint and raped her in February 2008. Jamrul was initially charged with kidnaping and rape in the girls case, although this was later changed to statutory rape due to additional information police received. In December 2009 he was sentenced to one and a half to fifteen years in prison.

Both Nilufa and Jamrul have taken polygraph tests in relation to Tangena's case. Nilufa passed her test while Jamrul's results were considered "unless" due to how upset he was at the time. He refused to retake the test later.

Nilufa initially supported Jamrul who she said loved Tangena like a daughter. However,  by November 2008 she publicly expressed doubts over his version of events and said she believed he knew more about Tangena's disappearance than he was telling people. Police have also stated they have doubts over Jamrul's story but he has not been named as a person of interest. Tangena's case remains unsolved.
