Shizue "Sue" Fujioka Cronin (also known as Shizue Fujioka or Shizue Lesperance) was a woman who vanished in Guam under suspicious circumstances in 1995.
Case[]
Sue Cronin was last seen in Tamuning, Guam on March 4, 1995. She was supposed to meet some friends at the Tropicana Hotel on March 6, but she never showed up.
At the time, Cronin, who is of Japanese descent, was married to a local attorney and together they owned Hillside Apartments and three-quarters of the Polynesian Motel. She was also president of Ypao Plaza Co. She had lived in Guam for over twenty years, but she also owned a residence in Moutain View, California. She was known to travel to Japan and Europe spontaneously but always kept in touch with her family at least once a week.

Her son, Francis L'Esperance, reported her missing in July of 1995 when he had not heard from her since March and went to the island to search for her. He searched for two weeks and then returned to California. It was learned her husband reported her missing in May of 1995, but the report was closed by police when he told them she was travelling in Europe. Her children, who are from a previous marriage, disputed this claim and the investigation was reopened. Her employees at the Polynesian Motel said they last saw her in late February 1995 and said it was uncharacteristic of her to leave without warning.
Since her disappearance, Cronin has not contacted anyone or made any withdrawals or deposits in her bank accounts. Police checked all sea and airports, but could not find any evidence she left the island. Foul play is strongly suspected in her case. At the time, a swimming pool was being built in the area she was last seen. It is speculated she could be buried under that pool, but no known search warrant to excavate the pool has been executed yet. L'Esperance and his sister in New York have offered a reward for her safe return. The Polynesian Motel has since been renamed to the Micronesia Motel and was destroyed by a typhoon.
