Roy Jacob Hagel was a man who disappeared from Bismarck, North Dakota.

Case[]

Hagel had left for Fargo for a bowling tournament but instead went to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to visit a friend. A week later, he called the same friend from Kingman, Arizona, saying that he had been to 9 states in 9 days, had run out of money, and was planning on returning to Bismarck. His car was found four days later along a desolate stretch of road in California near Death Valley Monument. Tracks were found leading 6 miles into the desert before the trail went cold, and a gun case was found in his vehicle. Hagel had hinted at suicide while talking to his friend.
