Phyllis Lorain Powell was a child who disappeared in 1963 after walking to a friend's house. Foul play is suspected. No images exist of Phyllis, but a composite has been created to show what she may have looked like.
Case[]
On the morning of January 11, 1963, Phyllis was washing clothes with her sister at a neighbor's house when she asked for permission to go outside and play. Everyone living on the street at that time was either friends or family of Phyllis and her parents, according to her brother and sister. They also stated that Phyllis knew not to go into a strange car or go anywhere with a stranger.
Phyllis was then seen at around 11 AM on January 11, 1963, at Lewis and Bernice Vinson's home at 310 Ashe Street. She had been watching the sitcom I Love Lucy, but she was no longer there when she was checked on at around 12 PM. At some point after this, she was seen skipping down the same road toward a friend's house. This is the last time she was seen. At the time, Ashe Street was sparsely populated with dirt roads and surrounded by swampy woods. A search of the area consisting of hundreds of people came up with zero clues aside from a small set of footprints found 1 mile from the area in which she disappeared.
The timeline of her disappearance that day has differed slightly over the years. Phyllis remains missing.
