Pauline was traveling from her home in Tampa, Florida, to Cozumel, Mexico, with a layover in Texas. Shortly before 6:00 p.m., she called her sister in California, asking for help to book a ticket back to Tampa, as she had changed her mind about going to Mexico. However, she never boarded her flight to Mexico and never returned to Tampa. She has not been heard from since.
