Case[]

Nyleen was at a picnic with her family at a campground in the national forest near Helena. She went to go play with some of the other children there. The group of children then walked up Mapuin Creek near the beaver dams, and Nyleen was sightly behind the rest of the group. When the children turned around, Nyleen was nowhere to be found. Authorities conducted a large search of the campground area, but Nyleen was not found. A man in a jogging suit had been spotted nearby earlier and was seen talking to Nyleen, and he is believed to have possibly abducted her.

An anonymous call came in to NamUs on November 27, 1985, two years after Nyleen's disappearance. The caller was an unknown man claiming he had abducted Nyleen and had been raising her. In January 1986, a typewritten letter from an anonymous man came in to Wisconsin authorities. The man said he had picked up "a girl named Kay." He then described how he had been raising Nyleen as his own child, home schooled her, and took her on several trips to various cities across the world. He said he knew her family must miss her, but Nyleen was happy he loved her too much to give her back. There were also several phone calls made to Child Find by someone claiming to be the writer of the letter. These phone calls were traced back to several phone booths in Wisconsin. After they were identified, the calls stopped.

The Marshall family moved to Japan in 1994. Nyleen's mother, Nancy Marshall, was murdered in Mexico in 1995.

There was a possible sighting of Nyleen at a restaurant in Janesville, Wisconsin. There was another possible sighting of Nyleen and her abductor in 1997 at a hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. A 19-year-old lady who went by "Helena" came into the hospital accompanied by an unidentified man and was asking to be admitted to the hospital for childbirth. The woman stated that her mother's name might have been Nyleen, and that she had grown up in another country. She had no accent indicating this. When hospital staff asked the pair further questions, they left the hospital and were not seen again. Nyleen's current whereabouts remain unknown.
