Nilsa Haydie Arizmendi was a woman who disappeared in 2003. Her remains were found buried behind an abandoned shopping centre along with the remains of Melanie Camilini. Serial killer William Devin Howell had murdered them.
Case[]
Nilsa's sister reported her missing in July 2003. She told officers that Nilsa was a sex worker and drug user who was living at a motel with her boyfriend. Her boyfriend was a suspect in the case, but he implicated William Howell and insisted Nilsa had left with him to buy drugs the night she vanished.
Police at the time searched Howell's van and found a considerable amount of Nilsa's blood inside. He was convicted of manslaughter in her case before the body was found. After her remains were discovered in 2015, Howell confessed that he kept her alive for a while after the night she went missing and raped her before killing her.
