Neva Jane Lindley was an elderly woman who disappeared from her home in Las Vegas, Nevada, on December 1, 2011. The prime suspect in her death died before he could be brought to trial.
Case[]
Neva Lindley was last seen by family members cashing out her financial assets just before disappearing. She met a man online and began a relationship with him, and the two were going to travel in an RV. The man was Robert Lawson Carnochan, a conman who used multiple aliases. He was arrested on April 13, 2016, for three counts of fraudulent schemes and artifices, three counts of theft, four counts of forgery, and three counts of theft of a credit card. He was convicted of all counts and sentenced to sixteen years in the Arizona Department of Corrections.
After his conviction, authorities determined Carnochan was also last seen with Verna Clayton and Nancy Hartz. All three women disappeared between 2008 and 2015 within a roughly hundred-mile radius of one another after beginning a relationship with Carnochan and cashing out their financial assets. Hartz's remains were located near Topock, Arizona and were identified on December 15, 2020. She was murdered via gunshot wounds.
Carnochan died in prison on September 25, 2020, before he could be arrested and charged for any of the cases. Neither Clayton nor Lindley have been located but are presumed killed by him. The case is under investigation by the Mohave County Sheriff's Office.
