Miriam Schulze was a girl who went missing from Drage near Hamburg, Germany on July 22, 2015.
Case[]
At the time of her disappearance Miriam lived with her mother Sylvia Schulze and her father Marco in Drage, near Hamburg. She had an older stepsister who came from an earlier relationship with her mother Sylvia.
Miriam took riding lessons at a nearby riding stable. Her father Marco occasionally helped out at this riding stable to earn money for the family. Her father was described by witnesses as a caring and loving father.
The day of the disappearance was the last day of school for Miriam before the big summer vacations. Sources report that Miriam was reported sick at school on the morning of July 22, 2015 other sources report that she had not been to school for more than a week. Miriam would have had a doctor's appointment on July 22, 2015 but did not show up for it.
After Miriam's mother did not appear at work for two days, the police were called in and the family home was opened.
On July 31, 2015, a body was found floating in the water about 25 kilometers away. It was weighted down with a concrete block. It soon turned out to be Miriam's father Marco.
Since then, there has been no trace of Miriam and her mother Sylvia.
Investigators assume that the Schulze family's case is an extended suicide in which Marco killed his daughter and his wife and then suicided himself. The reasons for this are probably loss of life and financial difficulties.
