Mark Lawrence Bosworth was a man who vanished in 2011. He is believed to have been suffering from cancer at the time of his disappearance.
Background[]
Mark was married for nearly 25 years at the time of his disappearance and he had two daughters. He worked as a mapping specialist for the Portland Metro.
Mark had significant health problems. In 2007 he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. It was successfully treated with chemotherapy and went into remission. However, in 2009 the cancer returned in one of his eyes. He received both chemotherapy and radiotherapy and in 2010 he received a bone marrow transplant. Afterwards he went back into remission.
Case[]
Mark was last seen by friends in Riddle, Oregon on Friday, September 16, 2011. He was running a booth on Main Street for the Cycle Oregon event but reportedly didn't participate much in the event. At approximately 11:00 P.M. he left the booth, explaining that he was going to find his tent. He was then spotted walking along a road between Riddle and Canyonville. Mark hasn't been seen or heard from since. He left his bike, wallet, credit cards and identification behind.
Mark appeared "exhausted" that day and was extremely quiet. He had been experiencing severe headaches in the lead-up to his disappearance and was experiencing disorientation. His oncologist believes his Lymphoma may have relapsed and metastasized to the frontal lobe of his brain. If this is the case he would not have survived long without treatment.
Mark is considered to be at risk due to his medical issues. He was unfamiliar with the area he vanished from and may have been suffering from amnesia. If so, he may have tried to travel to New York were he lived in the 80's.
