Maria Isabel Elizalde was a teenager who vanished in 2015.

Background[]

Maria was born on May 11, 2000. She was taken by her paternal grandparents as a baby and didn't see her mother, Kathleen Rodriguez, for years. She spent most of her life in Mexico but returned to her mother's care approximately a year prior to her disappearance after she was allegedly sexually abused by a relative. She would sometimes "act out", possibly due to the trauma she had endured, and attempted to run away on one occasion, although she returned home after several hours. Kathleen describes her as a very naive, trusting individual.

Case[]

Maria was last seen in Dallas, Texas on November 25, 2015. That evening, while her family were making a thanksgiving dinner for the next day, Maria and her sisters asked if they could play outside with the neighbours. They left the house sometime between 7:30 P.M and 8:00 P.M. At approximately 9:00 P.M. Maria's stepfather all three girls outside. A few minutes later Kathleen called them back inside. Both of Maria's sisters returned but she didn't. She hasn't been heard from since.

At the time of her disappearance, Maria did not have a coat or money on her. She may have remained in Dallas or traveled to either Cedar Hill, Texas or Balch Springs, Texas. Maria is officially classified as a runaway, however, her mother believes that she may be in danger.
