Livia Clara Schepp (born 7 October 2004) was a young Swiss girl who was abducted by her father in 2011, along with her twin sister, Alessia Schepp.

Case[]

Livia and Alessia were collected by their father, Matthias Schepp, from their home in St Sulpice, Switzerland on Friday 28 January 2011. Their parents were divorced and lived separately so they spent time at both residences. The plan was for Matthias to mind the twins over the weekend and return them to their mother, Irina Shepp, on Monday. The next day this was confirmed when Matthias sent her an SMS message stating that they were fine and would be back by Monday.

However, on Sunday 30 January Livia and Alessia were seen in Switzerland for the last time at midnight with Matthias. By 5:04 p.m. Matthias and the girls had crossed the border into France. That day Livia and Alessia were also reported missing by their mother who was alarmed when they failed to return home.

The next day Matthias withdrew money from multiple cashpoints around Marseille at approximately 12:30 a.m. He also sent Irina a postcard while in Marseille. He would send her eight letters in total, most from Bari, Italy. The first seven letters contained a total of €4,400.

That evening, Matthias and the twins also took a ferry to Propriano on the Italian island of Corsica where the family had previously gone on vacation. Matthias disembarked at 6:30 a.m. on 1 February, although it was unclear whether or not Livia and Alessia were with him. He left the Island, seemingly alone, the same day when he took a ferry from Bastia to Toulon. He left Corsica at 9:00 p.m. and arrived in mainland Italy at 7:00 p.m. the next morning.

At 9:13 p.m. on Wednesday 2 February Matthias was photographed at a toll. Livia and Alessia were nowhere to be seen.

At 11:47 p.m. on 3 February, Matthias died by suicide after jumping under a train in Cerignola, Italy. The twins were not with him when he died but that day he had sent a letter to Irina explaining that he had killed them and was going to kill himself. It stated, "The children rest in peace, they have not suffered". There was no mention of where he had disposed of Livia and Alessia's remains.

According to a police spokesman, Livia and Alessia probably never left Corsica.
