Leichia M. Reilly was a young woman who was last seen in West Seneca, New York, on January 31, 1985. Foul play is suspected in her case.

Background[]

Leichia attended Mount Mercy Academy and Buffalo State College during her life. At the time of her disappearance, she was working as a restaurant server. Her interests included art and writing.

Case[]

Leichia was last seen at about 3:00 a.m. on January 31, 1985, leaving a restaurant in West Seneca, New York, with Daniel Rose, an off-duty New York State Trooper. About one hour after they left, Rose returned to the restaurant and went to the bathroom, but Leichia was not with him.

Rose wasn't present at work the day after Leichia's disappearance but later gave a statement. His attorney was present when he did so. Rose admitted to speaking with Leichia at the restaurant but denied leaving with her. He instead said he spent twenty minutes in the parking lot with an unknown woman named Cathy.

After Rose provided his statement, he refused to further cooperate with the investigation. When the friends Rose was with that night were questioned, one of them said Rose left the restaurant with Leichia that night, and when he returned at about 4:00 a.m., they left.

Rose's friend continued, saying he spent the night at Rose's apartment. Rose left soon after arriving, saying he was going to "some girl's house." When Rose's friend woke up the following day at about 10:00 a.m., Rose was back and said the unknown girl wasn't home.

Two weeks after Leichia's disappearance, Rose was fired from his job. The reason was reportedly unrelated to her disappearance. He later became the leader of the bricklayer's union. In 1998, he was charged with driving under the influence and obstructing government administration.

Rose is considered a suspect in Leichia's disappearance, though he has never been charged in relation to it.
