Keh Chin Ann was a student who went missing alongside his best friend, Toh Hong Huat during lunch time at school

Case[]

Keh Chin Ann was a student in primary six at Owen Primary School. He was outside during lunch when he asked his classmate to watch his backpack while he went to some stores across the street from the school. He is believed to have met up with Hong Huat near the stores. The bell to go to class rang, but Chin Ann had not returned, so his classmate left his backpack, assuming that Chin Ann would come back for it. The bag was never claimed. Hong Huat and Chin Ann did not return after lunch for the start of afternoon classes at 12:55 PM. There was a possible sighting of the boys on Pulau Ubin, just north of mainland Singapore, but it was never confirmed. There was an extensive search for the boys, which was expanded into Malaysia and Thailand, but no evidence turned up. Chin Ann's father received a phone call regarding the boy's disappearance, supposedly from their abductor. However, His father had a stroke during the call and could not remember the details of it when he recovered. The boys' case received widespread media coverage and was featured on the November 1986 pilot episode of Crime Watch.

It is believed that Hong Huat's non-custodial father abducted the two boys and took them to live with him in Malaysia, where the three of them supposedly live today. There was also a theory that Hong Huat and Chin Ann ran away, but the boys' parents said that would be very uncharacteristic of them.

Hong Huat and Chin Ann's case gained even more attention when the popular fast-food chain McDonald's offered a $100,000 reward for information on the children's whereabouts. As a result, the case became known as the "McDonald's Boys Case."
