Kara Nichols was a woman who was killed by Joel Hollendorfer in 2012. Her remains were found in 2022.
Case[]
Nichols was a troubled woman who began using drugs in high school and struggled with addiction for most of her life, as well as escorting from the age of 17. As she got older, she began to pursue a career in modeling.
On October 9, she left home and told roommates she was traveling to Denver for a job and was never seen again, despite many leads being persued in her case. At one point, police claimed an unidentified woman was a person of interest in the case. Witnesses reported sightings of Kara over the years, but these were later proven to be false.
There was a break in the case in 2022 when a woman called the sheriff's department and told them she believed her husband, Joel Hollendorfer, was responsible for Kara's disappearance. Joel had previously been a suspect, as there were records he had previously hired her as an escort. He had confessed to his wife that he strangled Kara and buried her on his parent's property. Police searched the property and found her remains.
