John McInnis was the Jefferson County Sheriff who disappeared on November 5, 1911 in Port Townsend Bay, Washington.
He was either searching for deer poachers or was on a fishing trip in Port Townsend Bay when he and his boat were caught in a bad storm. The next day, his boat was found capsized floating two miles inside Marrowstone Point. McInnis was never located and is presumed drowned.
At the time of his disappearance, he was sheriff for over four years and he was a married husband with four sons.
