Jane Nartare Beaumont was an Australian child who disappeared in 1966 from Adelaide, South Australia, alongside her siblings Arnna Beaumont and Grant Beaumont. They are commonly referred to as the "Beaumont children".

Case[]

On the morning of their disappearance, the siblings asked their mother if they could travel to the beach. As it was too hot, they took a five-minute, three-km bus journey by themselves. They were expected to return home on the noon bus but did not, nor on the 2 PM bus. At 3 PM, their father searched the beach and at 5:30 PM reported their disappearance to the police. The Beaumont parents described Jane as shy, but Arnna had previously remarked that her sister Jane had got a boyfriend down the beach.

Several witnesses saw the children playing with a tanned, slim, tall man in trunks in his mid-thirties on the day they disappeared. The man asked one witness if anyone had been near the children's belongings as their money was missing. Around 12:15 PM, they were witnessed walking away from the beach. A nearby bakery shopkeeper who knew them reported Jane had bought pasties and a meat pie with a 1 pound note that her parents had not provided. A postman who knew the children well also reported witnessing them leaving the beach alone around 3 but later said it was the morning.

Two years later, the parents received letters claiming to be from the children, but they were forensically determined to be hoaxes in 1992.

Several suspects have been publicly suggested including by police due to geographic proximity and violent criminal convictions and murder. Arthur Stanley Brown was charged with the murder of two other young girls but was aged 53 at the time of the Beaumont disappearance and Derek Percy was only 17. Children associated with Munro and Phipps specifically state witnessing the Beaumont children with the suspects after the disappearance.
