Jan Marsalek, a native of Austria, worked for the Wirecard Group in Aschheim, Germany.
Following a 2019 tax audit, he is suspected of presenting false information to investors. Investigators are looking for him on charges of embezzlement and commercial gang fraud. It is possible that Marsalek lives under a false name in Belarus or Moscow, Russia.
