Henryk Borynski was a Catholic priest who disappeared in 1953.

Case[]

Henryk was born in Poland and fled to England in 1940 during the war, where he became popular with the Polish community in Bradford. He was very openly anti-communist and anti-Soviet, and gave speeches and sermons opposing the Soviet-influenced government in Poland.

On 13 July 1953, Henryk received a phone call at his rectory. His housekeeper answered and noted the caller had a Polish accent. After a brief, hushed phone conversation, Henryk left and was last seen standing on a street corner, as if waiting for someone. He left behind £250 in savings and all his possessions, including his prayer books.

The investigation focused on Boleslaw Martynellis, the priest Henryk had succeeded. Marynellis died in 1955. Over the years, there have been theories that Henryk was murdered and Martynellis had something to do with it.
