Augustus "Gus" Lamont is a four-year old boy who has been missing from his family's remote homestead in the Oak Park Station, South Australia, approximately 40km south of Yunta, since 27 September, 2025. His disappearance has gained national and international media coverage, and numerous searches are being conducted.
Case[]
Gus was last seen by his grandmother playing on a mound of dirt outside his home at around 5 PM on 27 September. According to her, at 5:30 PM, she went outside to call him in, when she discovered he was missing. The family searched for Gus for three hours, spending at least two hours in darkness after the sun set, during which Gus did not respond to their calls. After their failed searches for Gus, they called the police.
In the days following his disappearance, large-scale searches were conducted by police, SES volunteers, drones and helicopters, Aboriginal trackers, and members of the ADF, and numerous family and community members, lasting 10 days; however, they failed to find any footprints or articles of clothing. The search was subsequently scaled back from 7 October, 2025. Multiple footprints were found; however, they were determined not to be connected to Gus' disappearance.
According to the family, Gus is a shy but adventurous child, and although he is a good walker, he has never left the family property previously. The search is ongoing, and a former homicide squad detective believes wildlife may have been a factor in Gus' disappearance.
