Frances Mary Kiefer was a woman who vanished in 1994.
Background[]
Frances was, for the most part, confined to her home in the months leading up to her disappearance due to health problems. During this time her children didn't notice any indicators that she was thinking of leaving.
Frances's husband of eighteen years stated that there were no problems in their marriage at the time. He divorced her in 1998, four years after her disappearance.
Case[]
Frances disappeared on March, 22, 1994. She was last seen at her home in the 500 block of South Hoffert Street in Fountain Hill, Pennsylvania. Her husband woke up and took a shower leaving Frances in bed. When he returned she was gone. He assumed she'd left in the family car as it was also gone.
France's medicine and one or two of her jackets vanished with her. Less than a day after Frances being reported missing the car was found parked illegally on Millside Drive, near Saucon Park. The driver's seat was adjusted for someone taller than her to sit in. Brian Steckle, a former neighbour of Frances's, confessed to her murder in 1995. He was on death row for the murder of another neighbour, a pregnant woman, at the time. The police later determined this confession to be false though. Steckle was executed in 2001.
