Ezra Lok Lui was a toddler who was abducted by his mother, Terumi Kakiuchi, from Irvine, California on November 13, 1999. At the time Ezra's father, Samuel Lui, had full custody of him as Terumi had been charged with domestic abuse against Samuel in June 1999. However, he allowed Terumi to have an overnight visit with Terumi that night, during this visit Terumi took Ezra to Japan.
Samuel petitioned the family court in Japan to acknowledge his custodial rights. They did allow him to see Ezra but only for three hours a year. Samuel hasn't been in contact with his son since 2004. Ezra is believed to be living with his mother in Osaka, Japan.
