Earl Atkinson was a man who went missing while ashore in a small boat off Pleasure Pier in Avalon, California, on July 29, 1970. The boat had been tied up at Pleasure Pier and was scheduled for repairs on July 30, 1970. However, Earl never showed up for work that day, and the boat was later found adrift 1.5 miles north of Avalon Bay. Despite the search, there was no sign of Earl.
