Diana Jane Braungardt was a young woman who went missing in Crystal City, Missouri, on March 11, 1987. Foul play is suspected in her case. She has been ruled out as twelve unidentified decedents across the United States, and her dental and DNA are available for comparison.

Background[]

Diana Braungardt and her family lived in the 800 block of West Main Street in Crystal City. Her father was a pastor at the First United Methodist Church. At the time of her disappearance, she was a senior at Festus High School and had no boyfriend. She also worked part-time as a clerk at the now-defunct Venture store in the Twin City Mall.

Case[]

Braungardt finished her shift at 10:00 PM on March 11, 1987. She was last seen walking to the parking lot where her family's yellow 1982 Ford Escort was parked. She told her coworkers she had to study for a test but never arrived home and was not seen or heard again. The Ford Escort was found to still be in the parking lot, with authorities not believing she made it to the car at all.

Witnesses recall seeing a young man speaking to Braungardt before she went missing. He was described as a white man in his 20s who was around 5'10 tall with brown or black hair and a medium build. A sketch was produced of him, but he has never been identified.

Suspected serial killer Larry DeWayne Hall could be a suspect in Martino's disappearance.
