Diana Belinda Alvarez was a 9-year-old girl who disappeared from Fort Myers, Florida on May 29, 2016. Her remains were found by surveyors in Yeehaw Juction, Florida, almost four years later.

Background[]

Diana Alvarez disappeared from her Fort Myers, Florida home on May 29, 2016. Jorge Guerrero, a former roommate of Diana’s family, was caught by authorities with pornographic photos of her on his phone, and admitted that he’d sexually abused her while he lived with her family. On May 16, 2017, he was found guilty of one count of possession of child pornography and one count of production of child pornography, and sentenced to forty years in prison. The next day, he was additionally charged with lewd or lascivious molestation of a victim less than 12 years of age and battery of a child in connection with Diana’s case.

In May 2018, he was charged with first-degree murder in the case and almost two years later, in March 2020, Diana’s remains were found by surveyors in Yeehaw Junction, Florida. They have been cremated and given to her family. As of March 2020, Guerrero is still awaiting trial for Diana’s murder.
