David Hesterlee was a teenage boy who disappeared with a friend, Mark Bachelder, at Bryan Beach, Texas on September 22, 1974.

Case[]

David Hesterlee and several Houston teenagers were camping at Bryan Beach, near where the Brazos River empties into the Gulf of Mexico. At 6:00 AM, he and Mark went surfiing Bachelder with their surfboard tied to their ankles. When they have not returned at 11:00 PM, beach patrol was notified and a search-and-rescue operation was conducted. The search lasted for days, but neither of the boys or their surfboards were located. They are presumed lost at sea.

  • Pale yellow surfboard with an unclear design. It was older and battered, with one ding on the deck filled with purple wax, duct tape on the side of the board at the front and back, and two black fins.
