International Missing Persons Wiki

Catherine Ruth "Cathy" Malcolmson was a teenager who disappeared while biking to work.

Case[]

Cathy was riding her bicycle in Stow, the town in which she resided. She then biked off to her job as a cashier in Hudson, Massachusetts on Route 62. She never returned home for her brother's high school graduation party, and has not been seen since. Her first paycheck was left behind at her job. Her bicycle was discovered almost 2 years later in 1987 in the woods on the Stow town line off of Route 62.

John Robert Whirty is considered a suspect in her case, and is believed to have kidnapped and murdered her. Cathy's case is believed to be connected to the disappearance and suspected murder of Sarah Pryor, also believed to have been committed by Whirty. Whirty went to jail for a 1967 murder, and was incarcerated for kidnapping a woman in Newton, Massachusetts.

The area where Cathy went missing was not searched right away due to weather conditions, but when searched, no evidence was discovered. Her family held a memorial service for her and made her a gravestone at their family plot in Dover, New Hampshire.
