Elizabeth Lea "Beth" Franks was a teenager who was last seen in Toledo, Ohio on April 14, 1965. Foul play is suspected in her case.

Background[]

Beth had been married to a man for a year at the time and had a 1-year-old daughter. She was also a member of her schools chess club and was a member of her church. She was also a Girl Scout.

Case[]

Beth had an argument with her husband after Beth was caught with another man. After the argument, Beth packed her belongings and left.

Beth later visited her mother near Easter. Her mother later went to Beth's apartment to give her Easter baskets but nobody answered. The landlady let her mother in but the apartment had drapes thrown around, clothes strewn around and there was no bedding on the baby's bed.

Beth's mother reported her missing when the landlady told her that she heard commotion from the apartment the night before. She also hired a private investigator to help search for Beth.

In 2004, Beth's case was reopened and police stated the believe Beth was murdered. Her Social Security number wasn't updated and she hadn't contacted relatives since 1965. There were no reasons in her life for her to run away. They also reported her husband to be a person of interest in her case. He divorced Beth and remarried to two other women.

In 2022, police began searching a quarry in Genoa, Ohio for evidence in Beth's disappearance. They said they were looking for a submerged vehicle that could be related to her case. Two cars were found and pulled from the quarry, but neither car was the one police were searching for.
