Bertha Louise Burke (née: Cronawert) was a young woman who was last seen in Port Angeles, Washington, on February 20, 1970. She may go by her middle name Louise.

Background[]

Bertha was a mother of three and was going through a divorce at the time of her disappearance. She was reportedly seeing another man at the time.

Case[]

Bertha was last seen at her Port Angeles home on February 20, 1970. She had seemingly left home sometime after midnight without her purse, leaving her three children alone. Her soon-to-be ex-husband was named a person of interest in her case.

In 2003, police began a search for Bertha's body using ground-penetrating radars and cadaver dogs. The search was concentrated on the driveway of Bertha's former home and the parking lot of her husband's place of work. At one of the locations, the tests indicated something was buried under a concrete slab, but no evidence was found under it.
