Ann Linda Riffin was a young woman who was last seen in Mora, New Mexico on September 13, 1982.
Background[]
Ann attended college but left after her junior year to travel. The previous areas she lived in before moving to New Mexico include, Britain, Peru and Israel. She also worked as a teacher and a journalist, writing news articles in New Jersey. She also wanted to become an author. Despite Ann's travels, she was very connected with her family.
Case[]
Ann was last seen taking a vacation in the mountains. She was also planning to travel to Colorado Springs, Colorado to visit relatives.
On September 21, 1982, her car was later found abandoned in a ditch. The car was locked. In the car, there were paint supplies, clothing and some paintings of the New Mexico landscape Ann painted. Her purse was the only thing missing from the car.
The area the car was found was a destination on the way to Colorado Springs but wasn't a direct route. It's unknown why Ann was there.
Shortly after her disappearance, Ann was possibly sighted by a woman at a gas station. Ann was alone at the time and asked the woman for assistance and left. Her parents, who lived in New Jersey, reported her missing.
