International Missing Persons Wiki

Angela "Angie" Mae Meeker was a teenager who went missing from Washington in 1979. She was previously thought to be a Green River victim, yet she was eventually ruled out. However, some, including her mother, believed she had been murdered after hitchhiking.

Case[]

Angie was last seen July, 7, 1979 before going to the Tacoma mall in Tacoma, Washington to buy a birthday card for a friend. A male acquaintance of Angie later came forward claiming to have given her a ride and dropped her off near a Payless store. This is considered to be the last confirmed sighting of Angie although some witnesses claim to have seen her at a party later that evening.

The police initially believed that Angie was a runaway as she had a history of truancy and leaving home. Her mother also initially believed that she left of her own accord and didn’t report the disappearance to law enforcement for around 24 hours as a result. Angie wasn't listed as a missing person for two years after she was last seen as a result.

She is now considered to be missing under suspicious circumstances and her mother believes that she may have been hitchhiking on the day of her disappearance and was murdered by whoever picked her up.
