Andrew John "Andy" Amato was a child who disappeared in the forest near Interstate 395 in Webster, Massachusetts.

Case[]

Andy lived in a mobile home on Richards Ave. in Webster with his family. He went out with his sister and cousin early on September 30 to play in the forest. He and his cousin left his sister and went deeper into the woods. Andy fell and dropped his favorite toy, and he started crying because he could not find it. He refused to leave the woods without it. Andy's cousin told him to wait where he was, and the cousin returned to their house to get help. When the family returned to where Andy was left, he was gone. A ten-day area search was conducted, but no clues were found.

A man named Nathaniel Bar-Jonah was considered a possible suspect in Andy's case after they discovered a list of names he wrote with the title "Lake Webster." Bar-Jonah was from the nearby town of Dudley and was a suspect in the disappearances/murders of at least three other individuals. He was charged with the murder of Zach Ramsay, but the charges were dropped because of a lack of evidence. He was convicted of child molestation in 2002 in Montana. He died in a Montana prison in 2008.

In 1999, a man in Rhode Island confessed to Andy's murder but passed away from cancer shortly after. Andy's family did not report it to police until 2003. Police excavated the suspected grave site in Burrillville, Rhode Island, but no remains were found.
