Adriana Acosta was a hockey player who was abducted in 1978. President Jorge Videla ordered the secret abduction, torture, and execution of anyone who opposed his regime, an event later known as "The Dirty War." Adriana was one of those who opposed the regime, and she is believed to have been killed; however, her body was never found.

Adriana played on the Lomas Athletic Youth Hockey Team starting in 1972 and attended The National University of La Plata, where she studied economics and medicine. She aligned herself with communism, which was heavily opposed by President Videla.
On the date of her disappearance, Adriana was at a pizza place with her friends and was kidnapped while leaving. It was reported that she was held at the El Banco detention center and killed.
